The Natural golf course remains a favorite with Beaver Creek Resort guests and Gaylord locals

GARYLORD, Mich. -- The Natural golf course at Beaver Creek Resort hosts more rounds per year than any golf course in the Midwest golf mecca of Gaylord, due in large part low green fees that encourage local play.

Though located at Beaver Creek Resort, this Jerry Matthews design is no resort course and some local knowledge goes a long way here. There are blind shots, lay-ups and tricky doglegs, and the eighth and 18th are very difficult par 4s with long marsh carries.

Matthews employs his trademark "natural course design" here; very little earth was moved and wetlands come into play on many holes.

The Natural at Beaver Creek Resort sits along the western shore of Otsego Lake. As its name implies, the course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. The challenging layout requires accuracy so don't let the scenery distract you too much. Trees line the meandering fairways and water hazards come into play throughout. Strategically placed bunkers lurk along the greensides as well.
