Since opening in 1994, Loon Golf Club has become one of the most popular golf courses in the Gaylord area. It has even expanded to include another 18-hole course called the Lakes. The Loon Course features fast, undulating greens and narrow fairways surrounded by numerous strategically placed bunkers. Water hazards also come into play on half of the holes. The back nine is considerably longer than the front nine thanks to two lengthy par 5s. One of these is the 590-yard 11th hole, which not only has fairway and greenside bunkers to contend with but it also plays into the prevailing winds. The golf course finishes with another challenging hole. It plays from an elevated tee box that provides scenic views but long hitters beware of the pond on the left and the green is also severely layered.
