Elmbrook is great for what it is - a very convenient local course in Traverse City. It has several fun and challenging holes but overall is relatively easy. It's a good walk, with a few hills, especially on the back 9, to get your heart rate up. Conditioning could be better. All told, I'm really grateful to have a course of this quality so close to home. We play there a lot.

A family favorite since it opened 36 years ago. We still play it even with the advent of the more expensive and noteworthy courses in the area. The course is very naturalistic and follows the terrain. Several holes are truly links style. The course is maintained at a fairly standard level with smallish greens and difficult side hill shots from approach to greenside. The views of the bays alone are worth the fee and the fees right now during this depression are a great value. Try playing it best ball with nothing longer than a 4 iron for a great outing.
