The Gailes at Lakewood Shores Resort is one of the best golf courses Michigan has to offer. In addition to the Gailes, Lakewood boasts two other championship courses, Blackshire and the Serradella. Each course is a unique golf experience that is unmatched in northern Michigan. The Gailes will transport you to the Scottish coast with a rugged links layout that features meandering berms, sod-faced pot bunkers, and tall fescue grasses. Hidden hazards lurk throughout and the blustery winds off Lake Huron sweep across the golf course. If you've never been to Scotland, the course will give you a taste of what it's like. The fairways are generous but the approaches are carefully guarded by thick, gnarled mounds of fescue that are very tricky to negotiate. If you can manage to stay in the fairway, many of the greens can be reached in regulation but getting a birdie or an eagle will be more difficult.

This course is quite the experience. I have never been on a links course before this one, but I can't imagine them getting any better. You definitely have to think on this course. You can't just walk up to your ball and hit. And that's what I love about the course. So, bring your camera and a lot of balls. If you do not hit the fairway, chances are your ball is gone. I don't know how many times my ball would hit the fairway and then roll off and then just be gone. Very nice course.

One of the great courses in the state. One of the best links-style courses in the country. You truly feel like you're in Scotland or Ireland on every yard of the course.
