Onyx course
the lack of attention this course has received is awful. the sand traps are now weed traps. they could easily be filled with dirt and seeded. the fairways need to be rolled the wash board fairways are ridiculous. fairways and rough need to be mowed more regularly, greens were a bit shaggy. they dug out a ditch on #12 i think and just barely leveled the tailings and now just bare dirt that is not even leveled to put seed down. wasnt worth the drive.
Not what it used to be.
For 14.00 dollars anything is a value.. The staff is the plus for this course. The onyx is horrible, and the Diamond is catching up fast. This is a good track for mid to high handicappers. Better players are going to the better courses, condition wise, for the same amount of money. I'll still play here with golf now promo prices, as my friends like it, but over the years under this ownership, it ain't what it used to be.
Great day at the jewel
Had great time at the jewel.fairways still bumpy but still great playing the onyx course.
Perfect Morning
I'm a beginner & enjoy everything about the course.
Decent Course for the price
Had a great time. Staff was friendly. Beers weren't expensive. We will play here again.
So Sad
This is the worst condition of a golf course I've ever played. Played in a league here for one year. Bunkers were so bad we didn't even play them. Fairways were so bumpy you couldn't stand to drive a cart down them. By the end of the season there were huge areas that had 6 foot tall weeds in them.
The waitresses are friendly and the buyer is not bad go have a beer but pass on the course.
slow course
played in a group of 2 behind 1 group of 4 all day that did not even let us pass at the turn. We waited on every shot.
Do not play this course.
First of all, the man working the pro shop was extremely unfriendly. The course was in terrible shape, the fairways weren't cut, the bunkers weren't filled with sand and had stuff growing all over inside them, the rough had dandy lions growing from everywhere, and it didn't seem like there was any communication between the staff to know where golfers were and who is teeing off when. Don't play this course no matter how cheap it is.
You'll need a kidney belt
I've played this course many years ago in a league. The Diamond course was booked so I decided to play the Onyx for a GN discount. Big mistake. The fairways are so bumpy that you cannot sit in the cart seat. By the end of the round my back was so sore that it hurt to swing a club. The greens were very good but the fairways were the determining factor that will keep me from playing this course again. It's not worth the GN cheap rates.
Great prices great staff
Parts of the fairways were very rough no sand in the sand traps at the jewel but overall a very enjoyable course
Onyx
Course needs a little TLC -
For being in Grand Blanc I am surprised they are not maintaining traps. One tee box was almost impossible to get to because of the mud bog that was once a cart path. I would think they could afford a truck load of stone? Pace of play was a joke - if thier was a ranger he was not doing his job very well. The fairways and greens were in very good shape though!
Terrible fairways
I played the onyx side and I've never played a course in this bad of condition. The fairways were like driving over moguls. I would not recommend this course.
Onyx review
The fairways were very bumpy, the ball was always in a hole on the fairway
what happened?
I have played here for many years but things are just sliding down hill. Every part of the course was in bad shape. Times must be hard for them. Greens, tees, rough, fairways - it was all in bad shape.
The "South Course"
Haven't played the "South Course" in several years. Played well. Enjoyed our time. Rough to drive carts over. Real bumpy. Bunkers were not maintained very well. Gravely.
Would play again if the price was right. :)
Excellent Golf Course
This course is always in excellent condition. This is my favorite course.
jewel of grand blanc, onyx
Absolutely no care of course. Used to be decent. Now deserted. Didn't know. Very unfortunate for the facts. Can be a fun course but absolutely no care of course. I guess the economy ruined it.
Definition do a public course
Poor poor condition for this course. Bunkers haven't been raked or cared for all summer. Greens were so slow. Fairways were more like a first cut. The type of people this course attracts shames the game of golf. If in the area head to Fenton (same price courses) or play Davison cc or flint elks (for $10-$15 more it will be worth the extra money spent. I just don't understand how this course is central location and always has consistent business but yet every year just stays so poorly maintained.
Nice Greens!
Greens were in great shape! All around nice course. It was our first time playing this course so we sometimes had a little trouble finding the next hole. I wish the scorecard had an overview map to help find the location of holes. But all in all, what a nice place to play. I will be visiting again very soon.
