Broncho Ride
The Jewel has two courses. We played on the Onyx. It was a very rough fairway. You had to drive your cart very slow. There were very few smooth runways. 50% of the greens were in decent shape. There was a large hole in one & there were patches of weed grass, cut short, on most.
The most frustrating thing was the pace of play. We were waiting everywhere. On the tees, on the fairways, everywhere. It was taking 20 -25 minutes per hole & we were a twosome.
We talked to the Ranger & he shrugged & drove off. Guys were wasting time looking for lost ball or waiting because they thought they might drive the ball 250 yds consistently (LOL)
I wont go back even if it is a $5.00 special.
Great afternoon round with friends. Great fun!
Boyhood course in my home town. The course was great and has grown up substantially since last I played. Greens putt well but hard to hold.
Play the otherside
I had played the northside (Diamond) a few times and enjoy it. Price can't be beat. This side is usually more exspensive so I assumed it would be even nicer. I was very wrong. Dead grass everywhere in the fairways and unattended to bunkers. Course was very disappointing.
Great 9 holes to start Season
Course was in good condition. could use a few direction signs. Every day playing golf with friend is great.
Cheap isn't always better
Paid $20 for 18 with cart, looked like a good deal until you get onto the course, fairways had more hills and bumps than a off road dirt track. Very unkempt course greens were sloppy and full of debris. For $20 i knew it would be junk but not this dumpy. Overall won't return anytime soon
Disappointed
I can only assume this 18 is in its last season, it is in horrible condition.i have played it over the years many times and enjoyed it, but it obviously hasn't been maintained this year, nothing resembling a fairway, the only positive is that I got the hot deal at $12, but even at that kit was over priced. If they are shutting it down I suggest they do it now and stop taking tee times for a cow pasture.
Terrible
I used to play in a league years ago the course is definitely went downhill over the years. I don't think they've ever heard of a mower I will not play again this year there!
Bumpy
A nice little track. Nothing unplayable. Pretty straight forward.
Undulation !!! You expect some on any course, but this was a little too much. The fairways were like a rumble seat ride.
Greeens & tee boxes were in good shape
Booked thru golfnow
Rough very high. Greens were very good. Great price. Would go again.
dont read all the reviews
I read the reviews about the course conditions and blah blah blah, This course is fine and Its a great layout , wide fairways big greens, complainers about the bumpy fairways get over it, its not pristine, get the hot deal and have a good round
Good Day
Would recommend to everybody for a great day of golf
weeds and bumpy in cart
Greens in pretty good shape but the ball jumping around.Hard to find a place to drive cart without bumps. Just had surgery it was violent. Had to drive very very slow. Sand traps where over grown with weeds on the other hand we only paid 14$.
Certainly NOT Any jewels found here!
My wife and I were absolutely appalled at the course condition of the south course called the Onyx. Fairways were bone dry and even the practice green was screaming for water. Being not very familiar with the layout of the course, it would have been nice to have some directional signs steering us to the next hole. Thank goodness that we were following a group who knew the lay of the land. Many of the tee boxes themselves were overgrown and ball washers were not available on all holes and a couple of the ones we encountered were bone dry. IF in fact this course desires to remain open and make money, perhaps they ought to consider selling off the land for one of the two courses and spending necessary money on the other 18 holes in order to upgrade the golf selection in a very nice area of the county. Enough Said. We may try the diamond course across the street but doubt we shall ever return to the southernmost 18 holes.

Course to play good condition
Jewel - Onyx - worth a play
The views are nice. The clubhouse / bar is very nice. The Onyx course is dry, but playable, the greens are very slow. The length is fine from the tips for a less than 20-25 handicapper. The other tees are fine. It is a fun course... if your HDCP is 12 or less this is not the place for you... 4 hours 5 minutes on a Sat at noon... the cart girl (that's a plus, eh?) said the other course (Diamond) is "better" and it looked greener...and is newer... the Golf Now deal made it worth it for sure...
