Great value through golf now
Every year my son and I play a good course for his birthday my treat. We knew we would be in Gaylord this week and Black Forest came highly suggested. I never even knew this resort was there. We got the 52% discount by taking the 7:30 tee time. We were the only ones there and made it to the first tee by 7:00. The only people we saw during the whole round was a twosome that we allowed to play through and a groundskeeper that followed us for a few holes. The course is challenging and the greens are anything but flat and straight but they were not as hard as others have written. I did 3 putt 8 greens but most were due to just poor putting. I really don't like paying more than $50 per round and with the discount this course is fantastic.
this course it just seen a tornado the night before and wasn't pretty good shape only if you down trees
discourse id see the tornado the day before and it was in pretty good shape only if you down trees but the markers in the fairway were terribly disappointing you couldnt even see them!
Another Northern Michigan Gem!
Great course, cut through the pines as typical northern michigan premium courses. Tough undulating greens that will require a good flat stick player. Several tee boxes are challenging as you are hitting out of a narrow chute and need plenty of carry.
Excellent deal for 4th of July golf
We will be back. Good non intimidating course of us amateurs. Thanks!
will golf this course again
from the whites, hit my driver a half dozen times. greens in very good shape and roll great! fairways also in good shape. bunkers need work tho, they look horrible! lots of turning fairways and can't wait to shoot here again. specially now I know what's n the other side of those hills. good for more accurate and not so long of hitters. keeps the whole group competitive.
Great course
Generous fairways and very nice greens. The scenery was beautiful and the play was very relaxing.
Great track
Great layout but course conditions with a few rough edges. The layout wins as it is awesome for a golf purist! Tough test with a few crazy greens!
Rained all day, but no water on course. Great Drainage
Played as a foursome, Great course for the weather and new golfer, Everything was smooth and easy. First time using book now. Thanks
Great Golf Course
We go to Michigan twice a year and Black Forest is one course I always enjoy playing. It's also a great deal early in the morning. If you have a chance to play it, you won't be disappointed!!
This course is not worth $55.00 to play.
After playing the Tribute course at Otsego, I was expecting even better golf conditions and views at Black Forest. I was very disappointed, the course is in terrible shape and the views can not compete with the Tribute course which is in great shape and has spectacular views. My recommendation is to skip Black Forest and play the Tribute course at Otsego.
great design poor condition
The course has a very good layout, but the condition of the course for the amount they charge was POOR! I understand that they have a new course superintendent, but it's not worth the money!
Very nice
This course has some great views and is a blast to play. We golfed on a Thursday afternoon and didn't see anyone after the first tee. The condition was very well kept up seeing we played late in the day. A must golf course if you are going to be in the Gaylord area!
Nice course, needs better yardage markings.
Course was in very good condition. Greens were fast and well maintained. Fairway yardage markings were hard to find and no yardage stakes at all. This made each fairway shot take much longer to find the markings before choosing a club.
A true test to your green reading skills!
This is a beautiful northern Michigan course. The layout is forces both right to left and left to right ball flight skills. From the time you tee off until the end you will not see another foursome.
The most memorable feature of this course though is the greens. Most of them are small and challenging to hit. All of them have multiple breaks and are extremely difficult to read.
Lacks nice features like water hazards, bunkers.
Well maintained, hard fairways that make the ball go longer, but needs extra features.
Great Course
Loved the course. It was very challenging. We started at around 1:00 on a Friday. Practically had the course to ourselves, so no waiting or pressure. The layout is beautiful and challenging. The greens were difficult. Staff was very friendly. The only negative was on a few greens there was some frost burn and a little rough, not many and not enough to take away from all the positive attributes of the course
Very good, challenging and fair course. Unusual layout:: 3 par Fives on each side. Greens need work
Some of the greens were in distressed conditions, but the overall course was very enjoyable to play. Hadn't played in in 10+ years, and it was better than remembered
This course was fun to play.
Excellent greens, fast and true. Some front pins were outrageous.
Loved the variety of doglegs and challenging tee shots.
challenging but very fun at the same time
the course is gorgeous not to many holes that are flat here but that what half the fun. seems like your on your own private course its out int the middle of the "wild" so to speak, did see 2 deer on this trip was on the green of the 2nd hole and herd them in the woods, came right to the edge of the woods and watched us on the green very awesome
