Heather golf course at Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs offers a championship-caliber Robert Trent Jones Sr. challenge
HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. -- The Heather golf course at Boyne Highlands resort in northern Michigan is a classic golf design from Robert Trent Jones Sr. that was one of the area's first nationally ranked courses. It is one of four 18-hole courses at the Boyne Highlands Resort.
The Heather is a championship-caliber golf course that has hosted the Michigan Amateur Championship and plays 7,118 yards from the championship tees. It features Jones' signature tight, tree-lined doglegs, raised greens and splashed bunkering. Three of the four par-3 holes require a carry over water and the par-5 ninth hole is the longest at Boyne Highlands Resort, playing 617 yards.
The 18th hole is one of northern Michigan's most dramatic, a par-4 playing downhill before the approach shot much carry about 150 yards of water in order to reach the green.
Boyne Highlands resort has installed a caddie program at this walker-friendly course.
