I live in Colorado and play some very highly rated public courses on a regular basis. Whenever I come to Michigan I make it a point to play Angel's Crossing because Angel's beats them all.

My handicap varies between an 8 and a 10 and I have only played the black tees. It is a challenge, but not impossible.
I think the 3rd hole is a design masterpiece, with the blue, black, and red tees playing from 175 to 195 yards to a broad, shallow green, while the front tees play from 90 degrees to the right of the back tees to a green which, from that angle, is deep and narrow. The 12th hole is my favorite, a 225 yard par 3 "Redan" style hole from the black tees--and 250 from the reds.

There are some undistinguished holes on the course, one, two, ten and eleven come to mind, but there are some extremely outstanding holes that require excellent ball striking. #18 is a fine finishing hole requiring a strong tee shot followed by a precise approach, especially if the hole is tucked behind the greenside bunker.

Well worth the price and the trip.

Great course, Greens are the largest i have ever played, did not expect the greens to be contoured like that. Pin placement was #4 the day we played, an WOW do i need more practice putting. This course was well worth the 2 hr. drive to get there.

I've played this course each of the past several years. I love the layout, with some really great looking and varied holes, but the condition has slipped since it went into bk and the city took over. (I believe it was also a very hot summer there, so that could be part of it.) Facilities are limited, but they were building a new clubhouse in July which would help significantly.
