The course is great. What was the opposite of great was the general manager Bob Bales. He accused my boys and two of their friends of leaving scuff marks on a green. As a result, banned them from golfing there ever again. On top of that, he notified the youth on course director and she has notified other courses in the area with our kids names attached. As a parent I was obviously concerned. It turns out nobody actually saw them do it and it could have been any number of players on the course. At worst, this could have been a lesson for the boys along with a warning. (They claim they did nothing) This course manager does not support youth in the game and I hope you support the kids by choosing another course to play.

Absolutely love the course layout. Generous, wide landing areas, monstrously large greens, rolling terrain.

At $59/weekend round, I expected the sand traps not to be strewn with rocks and to have ball washers at each tee since they are not on the carts.

Also at that price I expected the clientele to be respectful enough of the course and the other golfers to repair their ball marks on the greens. Instead, the greens in some instances resemble the surface of the moon.

I still love the course, and am begging the management and the golfers to take much better care of it.

Course has a great layout.. was in pretty good shape. However 2 things... we were a slow 4 some never saw anyone until hole 11... slow all the way home:(( Also STARTER WAS A JACK... treated us like a bunch of hacks!!! Because the had a booze infested outing... really!! Not impressed. We spent good money on a Sunday morning not to be treated like some hack hillbillies....Probably wont be back... too many great courses around excited to see people and know how to treat people.

Angels is a great layout with several good risk and reward holes, specifically the par fives. So many tees that you should think about which to play. With just 4 pin positions indicated on the carts chart it is insufficient information to properly help you due to the size of the greens. You really need an distance (hand held) device to aid you.****

I live in Colorado and play some very highly rated public courses on a regular basis. Whenever I come to Michigan I make it a point to play Angel's Crossing because Angel's beats them all.

My handicap varies between an 8 and a 10 and I have only played the black tees. It is a challenge, but not impossible.
I think the 3rd hole is a design masterpiece, with the blue, black, and red tees playing from 175 to 195 yards to a broad, shallow green, while the front tees play from 90 degrees to the right of the back tees to a green which, from that angle, is deep and narrow. The 12th hole is my favorite, a 225 yard par 3 "Redan" style hole from the black tees--and 250 from the reds.

There are some undistinguished holes on the course, one, two, ten and eleven come to mind, but there are some extremely outstanding holes that require excellent ball striking. #18 is a fine finishing hole requiring a strong tee shot followed by a precise approach, especially if the hole is tucked behind the greenside bunker.

Well worth the price and the trip.

Great course, Greens are the largest i have ever played, did not expect the greens to be contoured like that. Pin placement was #4 the day we played, an WOW do i need more practice putting. This course was well worth the 2 hr. drive to get there.

I've played this course each of the past several years. I love the layout, with some really great looking and varied holes, but the condition has slipped since it went into bk and the city took over. (I believe it was also a very hot summer there, so that could be part of it.) Facilities are limited, but they were building a new clubhouse in July which would help significantly.
