Course is in great shape. Plush and green. We enjoy how the course carved into the natural beauty of the area.

Black Lake is a beautiful course. It's a bit challenging and the scenery is wonderful. The greens were nice and the service was good. Also, I believe it's one of the top public courses in Michigan and the country.
I've been to courses more expensive than Black lake, and I wasn't impressed. Black Lake is affordable.
For what I think is a hidden gem, I've been back for the 4th year in a row for a golf weekend, and I live in southern Mi.
Being that it's owned by the UAW, if you decide a play and stay weekend, and want to stay inside the complex, golf course is outside the complex; make sure you drive an american made auto to enter. You might want to call for more details.

Very disappointed upon arrival! Showed up ahead of tee time, called ahead to verify and the golf course still found away to not honor the passes and try to charge us full price. they agreed to on the phone, and email! Be cautious as now they have rankings and awards with this came the arrogance and rudeness of the staff. We had a large controlled professional group of 8 golfers who are all low 40 shooters that respect and maintain there part on a golf course. The hour drive is not worth the hassle or the time when Gaylord has so many good courses to play.

Great course design that looks so natural that you'll forget the reason you are there. Great customer service both in the bar/grill ( actually quite a good dinner can be had as well) and the clubhouse. A little about the course.... Large landing areas ( mostly) off the tees, tighter approaches to quite large greens make it both challenging but far.Very good par 3"s. Good practice facility. I believe the designer said he only had to "find" the holes not actually create any. A joy to play.
