Sandy Creek Golf Course in Monroe, Michigan is one of the area's most popular public courses. With weekend walking rates less than $30, it's also one of the most affordable rounds you'll find. The pretty landscaping and meticulous conditioning of the layout nearly mask the terrain's former use as farmland. The century-old oak and maple trees that frame many of the holes add to the course's beauty while also demanding accuracy. Several ponds and a meandering creek come into play on six holes and you'll also find wetlands and marshes along the perimeters. The bunkering is sparse but strategically placed along the greensides and bordering the landing zones. The golf course finishes with a hole that is both scenic and challenging. The tee shot will have to clear the creek to make it to the undulating green that sits right in front of the Sandy Creek clubhouse.

Nice course, offset by the poor customer service. I had reserved my tee time online, and saw that I was to be paired with 2 other people. Got there and found those two had brought two others with them to 'make up' a league round, and they did not want me with them. Range master not only went through with their request, but would not let me, now a single, tee off ahead of them. The foursome behind me offered to let me join them, but, making a fivesome, initially the range master said absolutely not. After some convincing, he relented, though was very stern with his warning that we 'not hold up anybody else' (we didn't). The guys turned out to be a good group, and it turned out to be an enjoyable round at a decent course, with the lack of common sense from staff being a problem.

Ordinary course. When I lived in Monroe I played there a bit. I had a buddy that brought me out after talking it up. Clearly he didin't get out of Monroe much. Greens were always slow. It's a course that leaves me with little to say other than ehhh.

Decent course. Kind of your typical former farm land turned golf course in the country. Actually a few well designed holes, more trees than you'd expect for where it is. Its a fair test of golf that anyone can play, beginner to low handicap player. Nice deck off the clubhouse. Played in a couple outings here over the years and they do a good job with them. 18 is a nice finishing hole. If you're looking for a neatly groomed course, tee to green. This is not the place. If you want a good course at a fair price, this place will suit you just fine.

Less challenging than many other courses in the area, Repeditive layout & the greens could use some help. Too many kids, too.
