Capital City Airport, located in Lansing has direct flights from many domestic destinations. Detroit Metro Airport is about an hour from Lansing as well, and is the largest airport in Michigan and has international service. Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids is the second largest commercial airport in the state and is closer to the west coast of Michigan, about a half hour from Grand Haven and other Lake Michigan vacation spots. It's the closest large airport to the northern Michigan golf Mecca as well.

Lansing is accessible via I-69, I-96 as well as US-127, all cutting right through the state capital. Mt. Pleasant, home of the Soaring Eagle Casino is an hour north of Lansing on US-127. I-96 west from Lansing runs up to Grand Rapids.
