True North Golf Club in Harbor Springs among Michigan's best golf courses, reader says

True North Golf Club of Harbor Springs, Mich., is a fabulous golf course. The greens are amongst the best I have ever played, including anything in Arizona or Las Vegas.

The layout is stunning hole after hole, with elevation changes both up and down, and it is challenging from any set of tees.

I paid $95, and it goes to $130 on July 1, but I would pay this any day compared to any of the courses at Boyne Highlands Resort for the same money.

The only drawback was it's a little off the normal golf course path, but it is absolutely a hidden gem.

I don't think they are anywhere near getting enough members to go private as there is still not a single house built, and we were amongst only two to three other foursomes on a Thursday in mid June.

I have played them all in the Petosky/Harbor Springs area,
including the golf courses in Bay Harbor, and this is at the top of the list, with Black Lake Golf Club being a close second.

Rate: 5

Service: 3
Condition: 5 (Immaculate greens and everything finely trimmed right up to the boundaries of the course.)
Facilities: 3 (Club house nothing special and very basic food and beer choices.)
