The best of Boyne Resorts in northern Michigan
In northern Michigan, Boyne Resorts consist of three separate four-season resort properties and eight golf courses, making it the area's largest and most diverse player in the summer golf market. Each resort is within about 30 miles of each other: Boyne Mountain, Boyne Highands and Bay Harbor. Golf packages through Boyne can combine any of the three resorts and eight golf courses.
The largest of the Boyne resorts for golf is Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs, home to four 18-hole championship golf courses, highlighted by the Heather course, a Robert Trent Jones Sr. classic that is a regular tournament host, including the 2011 Michigan Amateur. The Moor course is located next door and a similar, classically designed test. Newer courses, the Donald Ross Memorial and Arthur Hills course are located at a separate facility with its own clubhouse and driving range a short drive away from the main, chalet-style lodge.
The original Boyne property, Boyne Mountain, has two golf courses of its own, the Alpine course and Monument course, and is home to many family-friendly activities along with the golf, as well as the Nike Junior Golf School.
The most high-profile of the eight courses is Bay Harbor Golf Club, a Top 100 Arthur Hills design with 27-holes on the shores of Lake Michigan, including the ever-unique Quarry nine set in an old shale quarry. Just down the road is Crooked Tree Golf Club, a stand-alone, 18-hole, player-friendly golf course overlooking the lake.
