Grand Traverse Resort getting a little fine tuning from new management
Since the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians purchased the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in 2003, more than $1.5 million has been spent renovating one of northern Michigan's already premier resorts. Located along the sandy shores of Lake Michigan's Grand Traverse Bay, the resort offers 54 holes of championship golf, with courses by Jack Nicklaus (The Bear), Gary Player (Wolverine) and William Newcomb (Spruce Run). There's also a spa, tennis courts and pools.

Schuss Mountain golf course at Shanty Creek Resorts - Bellaire, Michigan
Schuss Mountain at Shanty Creek Resorts in Bellaire is a classic, northern Michigan golf course built in the mid-1970s by Michigan architect William Newcomb. While it doesn't feature slopes and elevation changes as severe as many of the modern northern Michigan courses, it does have some roll on many holes as well as a few elevated tee boxes, especially on the back nine - which features more peaks and valleys along with added hole variety.
