The 18-hole The Club at LochenHeath in Williamsburg, MI is a semi-private golf course that opened in 2001. The Club at LochenHeath measures 7239 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 147 and a 76.6 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. Greens and fairways are bent grass.
Played on 14 Aug 2011. Very good course layout, but staff needs work. Fees do not include practice range balls (negative). Staff also uninformed as to the temporary tees and other construction on course. Absolutely no on-course player assistance. Waited on every shot behind a very slow foresome despite fact we were only a twosome.

8/27/11 This course is in really good shape. They have been overwatering to bring it back. If you are a descent player, don't mess around at Grand Traverse. Play this first. Lots of great holes and tricky greens. Great test of golf if you are up for a challenge. Played Tulleymore the day before and this is right up there with it. Not cheap, But, much more affordable and worth it! Just needed to see a beverage cart before fifteenth hole on Sunday. Didn't need alcohol but was very thirsty.

No question that this is one excellent golf course. The problem is in the management of slow play. The course was backed up due to a group of rowdies that just did not care and the marshall did not take care of the problem. Also, no halfway house and no food available due to the chef being too busy that morning. If you can get your head around the management problems, the golf course is one of the finest in the Traverse City area.

I agree with Travis. I walked the course last week with a friend. I talked to 4 players who told me that LochenHeath will be open back up in the spring and will be operated as a public course. I also saw 10 workers going at it very hard. It was in great shape and I only wished I could play it. I called my buddies and we will be there in May. Great layout with wonderful vistas overlooking Lake Michigan. WOW is right Travis.

I drove through there the other day. WOW! what a come back. Saw at least 12 golfers playing. Bunkers were perfect, fairways great and what views. Got to believe it will be open to the public in Spring 2011. Pro shop was open but did not go in. Can't wait to play it again.

It is closed down and deserted. A classic case of the economy turndown!! Sad to see a once great course overgrown and burnt out. I drove thru today (5/31/10 so I have no idea what the other rater is saying!!!
