Golf courses can be challenging without being intimidating. A course with super-fast greens with cement-like gravity defying slopes are no fun for even the average mid-handicap golfer. West Branch is one of those courses that rewards good shot making and is not only well designed, but picturesque and fun. Both morning and evening leagues can monopolize the tee times, but the guests can still obtain a reservation. Its a fine public golf course !.

When the new GM came in, Tim or Tom? he was all kinds of friendly and upbeat and very customer service oriented . He has since went backwards and we don't know who he is anymore. He is grumpy and acts like you're a bother to him. The club has new owners also, who are concerned about getting drunk with their group of friends and they are forgetting who built this country club and they are forgetting their guests and members are paying their wages. They sit their drinking and carrying on like they are at a bar when you walk in, instead of appreciating and greeting the guests. They are washed up has berms , can't get out of the college days drinkers.
I suggest they get this group out and get serious and find some friendly, proactive new owners. It's not a country club, it looks like a stupid bar with a bunch of awful TVs hanging up in random places. Get them out.

This course is good old tried and true. A classic course that is a treat for all levels of golfers. There are during the week special rates and green fees are very reasonable for this well-kept course located conveniently right in town. I go there annually from Canada on my West Branch golf vacation. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
