Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Michigan (2022 #20)
Reviews
Old School Layout
Have played here dozens of times, first review though. Easy walkable course from 6200 (blues). Tree lined fairways - emphasizes keeping it in the short grass. Greens were immaculate and rolled very true - had only 28 putts..
Fun course to play, greens are in excellent and some of the best I have played in Southeast Michigan
Worth a play if in area
I was able to get out early and avoid slower play as the course gets a lot of traffic. Decent course layout that uses the creek well. Course conditions were excellent.
Surprisingly nice
Pleasantly surprised by the course condition given the weather. Greens and fairways in nice shape. Pace was great. Relatively easy course to play. Lots of fun if you want to feel better about your game.!!
Not too bad
Nice course for a city course. Pretty well taken care of. rough was a little long. Had trouble finding golf balls in it. Layout is a bit strange. Got turned around a couple times. But overall a good experience. Will play again
Staff was rude
Made my tee time day before for 3:40 pm , get to course and pay my 18 hole fee and was told we could only play 9 because it was Easter and they are closing early. Person in charge said sorry and that was the way it was going to be !!!
Plumbrook, A Hidden Grm
I've played Plumbrook Golf Course a number of times and it has always been enjoyable. It may not rival the high priced designer courses, but it's very playable and keeps everyone in contention for skins, no matter their abilities. The yardage on the scorecard is a little off, but your 200, 150, and 100 yard markers are accurate.
What I enjoy most about Plumbrook is their greens, which are usually immaculate and fast. Due to this year's long and extremely harsh winter, their greens are not quite up to standards due to "winter mold". But, as the season extended on, the bad spots filled in and putting continues to be challenging.
Overall, Plumbrook is a great course to play for just about all golfers. Now, if you are a "scratch golfer", you might want to play an "up north" designer course, and pay $100.00 per round; but for the everyday golfer who loves to play, Plumbrook is a "Hidden Gem" in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
