Forest Dunes Golf & Country Club in Roscommon offers one of the best courses in Michigan. British Open Champion Tom Weiskopf designed the course in 1973 and it soon started receiving acclaim as one of the area's toughest rounds. His design includes more traditional elements such as wide fairways and large greens, but there are many challenges in store on this formidable golf course. The front nine, dubbed the "forest nine," demands accuracy due to the presence of towering mature trees but the open back nine is characterized by pristine white sand dunes. Water hazards and bunkers come into play frequently throughout the entire Forest Dunes golf course. As if 18 challenging holes weren't enough, Weiskopf built a 19th hole that plays uphill and across water to a green that has a bunker right in the middle.

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. Take a left at Forest Dunes and keep on driving all the way to Arcadia Bluffs . Don't get me wrong; this is a nice, very well maintained, up north golf course. BUT THAT'S IT! You can find exactly that for less money and a shorter drive from Metro Detroit. Scenery was poor, lodging was average, food was 'ok'. There was no magic for me at Forest Dunes like there was when I played Arcadia Bluffs. Matt Ginella eat your heart out (and open your eyes)!

Not sure why it was so bad for Ray, but this is easily in the top 3 of every course I have played. The course is always in tournament condition and the staff is always amazing. It's a must play!

    ATTENTION ALL WOMEN GOLFERS!,,
This is a great place for a girls get away golf trip!(and anyone else!) they are diffinately women friendly!
Super course and facility! Scenery is breathtaking!!! Stayed at lovely home on the property. Restaurant was very good! Entire staff from the golf professionals to the wait staff were very accommodating. Friendly and informative. The general manager asked us several times, if we were satisfied and if there was anything more he could do for us. The assistant pro, Lylse was very helpful, getting us tee times on other courses. We are 4 women GOLFERS from Pittsburgh, we loved it and plan a return with the"boys"!

Rating this course less than 4 stars is ridiculous! This course is easily one of the top 5 that I've ever played** -- the service, course condition, layout, geez, everything was nothing but awesome.

**and I've played 250+ in Michigan including Arcadia Bluffs, Birmingham CC, TPC of Michigan, Bay Harbour courses, UofM course (an Alister MacKenzie!), both Indianwood courses, etc.

I have heard and read a lot of terrific things about Forest Dunes so I was really anticipating this, but I was very, very disappointed. I've been trying to think of a course I've ever enjoyed less, but I honestly can't think of one. I won't be back.

Jeremy worries me. He is concerned about....the cart paths! He should have noticed the brilliant lay out and beauty. Not sure I even noticed the cart paths! Great course worth the trip!

Lots of hype. Great course!!! Course is in flawless condition. Me personally the brick cart paths did not do much for me. I know I am probably the only person to say that but it is my opionion. In the middle of nowhere. FD is very playable and also very difficult??? I played terrible the day I played so it was not as enjoyable for me but I do understand the accolades the course is getting. Very well layed out and once again flawless conditions. A
