Pine Trace Golf ClubWhen the Arthur Hills-designed Pine Trace Golf Club opened in 1989, upscale public golf in southeast Michigan changed forever. The perfect bridge between public and private golf courses, Pine Trace offers different scenic views on each hole. From trees (pines, maple and oaks) that isolate you from the world, to birds (including blue jays, cardinals and robins) to the natural characteristics (swamp land, ponds and artificial lakes) that come into play, this golf course offers something for everyone. Pine Trace G.C. set the standard, and it has passed the test of time.

It offers a wide variety of holes, from wide open to target golf. The greens at Pine Trace are usually top notch, although a couple had problems in the 09-10 winter.
I think the keys to this course are the par 5s. On the front, you finish with the 8th and 9th holes. #8 is reachable for decent length hitters, but you have to turn the ball around the corner.
On the back, you're presented with 3 scoring opportunities in a row from holes 10-12, but each requires an accurate tee shot. However, you'll be rewarded with a short iron or wedge into each of these greens.
13 & 16 are both difficult par 5s. 13 is all about the 2nd shot to position yourself into an open shot for your 3rd, and 16 requires either a long tee shot, or one far enough right so that you can get around the corner. 16 is one of the most demanding par 5s you'll ever play.
Try Pine Trace, you'll love it!
