American Dunes Golf Club (formerly known as Grand Haven Golf Club) sits along the shores of Lake Michigan. It has a diverse landscape of natural sand dunes combined with forests of mature hardwoods. It is known for its excellent conditions, which is partly due to sandy soil that provides better conditioning and has the added benefit of being almost immediately playable after rain. The fairways are lined with towering pines and the greens have subtle but tricky undulations. Creative shot making will be needed to navigate the trees and dunes, accuracy is also essential. In addition to the golf course, American Dunes Golf Club has a practice facility with a long-game area and one of the largest short-game practice areas in the region.

I played this with my daughter and her boyfriend who are both golf professionals and my husband who is an avid golfer. I am normally just a social golfer, but truly enjoyed this course. Yes it is new and challenging, but everyone loved the challenge from each of our respective tees. Hats off to Jack!

-Geofencing not working on one hole and had to put carts in reverse to go up a hill to the next tee.
-Marvel at Jack Nicholis's accomplishments and have heartfelt sorrow for the families of the fallen soldiers however a video of both on every hole was over the top. Give everyone a web link if they want to view both of these things instead of interfering with a round of golf.
-Garmand watches didn't have the course information loaded on it and the carts navigation systems were no good because of geofencing limits in some of the rough or bunker areas. Pin placement was unavailable in these cases.
-Put to tee markers on every hole.
    -For $150 I expected more.
-Loved the old Grand Haven course and dissapointed in the removal of so many trees that gave the course character.

I had heard the course was not ready yet. Absolutely not true. Yes it is new. However the course was in very good shape! I personally LOVED it. Great job Jack with taking a completely wooded course and making it into a spectacular routing. At $150 a round I probably will not get that many chances to play but I will look forward to each time. Hats off American Dunes!
