I just bought a place in Gladwin not far from this course. Brought my boys up neither of which have much golf experience. Figger it's time to teach em.
Had a blast didn't hurt anyone and enjoyed the fresh air we'll be back for sure

This is in response to Joe from last year. As an experienced golfer, if I go out and play by myself I know that I will not get nor deserve any special treatment by 2/3/4-somes in front of me, On a better course, you would not be allowed to go out by yourself, too many obvious problems. As for the course itself, it is not my favorite in the area but it isn't bad for a small-town course, never great but always taken care of. Now the people, I have met and dealt with them all over the past 4 years and there is not a problem in the bunch. Me thinks the old adage applies here - you point a finger to designate blame and there are 4 pointing at the probable problem!

For "Ben", to comment on "Joe's" review, FROM 2 YEARS AGO...is ignorant. Why the need to counteract a negative review? Childish.

The fact is the course isn't bad. It's plain, it's boring, and it's not as well groomed as many other courses. But for an "out of the way" area like Gladwin, it's just fine.

For the younger folks and seniors, it's a fine course. It's the type of course I would associate with new players, or players who "haven't learned the etiquette of golf". SLOW play is the norm at GHGC. they certainly tolerate it.

It's not a great course...but it's not operated or groomed like it either. It's just a fact.

FWIW, if someone doesn't like a negative review about their business, make changes to ensure there's never a need.

This is in response to a negative note from "Joe". It is very unfair to Gladwin Heights. I have been a golf coach for 35 years and golfed on a regular basis at Gladwin Heights for44 years. I have never seen a problem caused buy any of the owners or their staff. The current owners John and Jann and their staff bend over backwards to accommodate each golfer and give them the best experience possible. There might be some golfing arrogance in Joe's personality. He should have soon realized that he was golfing behind four rookies who might not have known golf etiquette. Golf is not a race! The problem Joe had with the staff might have originated with his own approach and attitude. There might be a reason Joe was golfing alone. Joe, where else could you backtrack and play two extra holes that you did not pay for? Gladwin Heights is a wonderful course to play for all skill levels and it would be hard to find a better golfing value. Although the course does't need improvement, John is always tweaking and upgrading things. Come and play anytime, that's only one of the drawing cards!

Gladwin Heights host our yearly family reunion/golf outting every year. We bring 6-7 foursomes and play best ball. The course is always in decent shape and the folks there bend over backwards to accomindate us. We will return again in August 2013. Thanks to all who work so hard to make this happen

I played this course for the first time yesterday. I wanted to like it as a decent municipal course. Unfortunately, my experience was terrible. I was playing alone since I stopped in on a whim as I was driving by. The course was not busy at all: it was 3:30 on a Tuesday. Leagues had not started. The first three holes were fine. The fourth hole I had a bit of a wait in the fairway for the foursome ahead of me. They watched me putt out on four green. I drove up to five tee as they were finishing and driving away. They didn't wave me up, which I thought was odd since there was absolutely no one ahead of them. I waited and waited while they played their second shots. Eventually they finished the hole. I quickly putted out on five green thinking they would let me through on six tee. I drove up quietly behind them on the tee. We exchanged pleasantries and acknowledged each other. All four of them tee'd off with me watching. They then inexpllicably went on without allowing me to play through. These four "gentlemen" were all probably in their 60s. Very poor golf etiquette. They are an embarssment to the game. I thought about confronting them, but decided to go back and play four and five again since there was no one on the course. I did that, and then played six. Guess what? I had played four and, five again, and six and I caught them just teeing off on seven! By that time I decided to simply pack it on this course. I drove off the course and skipped holes seven, eight, and nine. At the clubhouse the gentlemen arranging carts for the leagues asked ifI was finished and I told him, "yes, I gave up out there after 6 holes because you have a really, really slow group on seven right now and they won't let anyone through." He looked away and didn't say a word. Amazing!

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this course. Beyond the slow play, it really is less than satisfactory as a course. With the slow play, and a staff who doesn't care to attract new golfers it's a loser. Spend your money at a course where they care about your experience.
