This course sucks, it use to be very good about 20 years ago but not anymore. Pin placements are always tough, now the roughs slow up play when looking for ball. Number 3 fairway has long grass in the middle of fairway, short grass on edges of fairway. Bunkers are a mess, you would think they would drag them. The men’s room is nasty. I could say more but I will stop here.

Carleton Glen used to be one of the favorite golf courses available to both Monroe & Downriverite golfers. Leagues were often scheduled and some even paid membership fees to guarantee a tee time. No reservations are really needed now. Most golfers are "walk-in". Is it the status of golf state wide, climate change, competition, or the lack of youth interested in golf that has allowed a significant lack of sponsorship at Carleton Glen ?. Several of the greens have seriously become damaged, deceased, or affected by climate change that their putting surfaces are worthless. Many of the areas of the course have also become overgrown and lack significant maintenance. Hope that improvements can be made and that the course does not become another forgotten course like Monroe Raisin River

Very unique golf course. It has open holes, elevation changes, forest holes and links holes. The front 9 is more open, but tightens up. The back 9 has some impressive scenery. Overall the course is nothing like the others in the area and that's a good thing. Greens were fast and smooth. I played Tuesday and 18 holes was $28, a great bargain.

I love this course. I play it 1-2 times a week, mostly weekday mornings. The Spanish girl inside is so friendly. The course is so fun. My favorite hole is the short #5 with the 3 options. Layup straight, go long left or gamble over the creek. Since I retired it became my main course and me and my buddies love it.

I can see a lot of work being done to upgrade the course. It is way prettier than any other local course that I play it a lot.

what a dog track..little to no grass on fairways, same goes for the greens that are bumpy and dead, my back yard is in far better shape. This is at best a 20$ all you can play course...they should be embarrassed.

Not at all impressed with this place. Played in high school back in 2003 and this was our home course. They used to hold tournaments here, for godsake. After playing today, I no longer think that's the case.

This place has COMPLETELY went to hell. Don't get me wrong; it's a beautiful layout. The problem is that the course is no longer maintained. The tee boxes are sometimes used, sometimes not. When not, it is either missing markers or is a temp box set on a slope. The fairways are 20% under water and 40% dirt; so dry that the clay base has formed large cracks in large areas. You know stuff is bad when hitting from the rough is more desirable than the hard clay, graslessness of a fairway. The sandtraps aren't really sand. They're very overgrown with weeds and contain hard, hard dirt/sand (think chipping from the sand). The greens are at least 50% pocked and marred with bald spots. I would putt only to have the ball actually JUMP up/down, left/right as it rolled. The wooden bridges crossing the mostly dry creeks are rotted, bouncy and nearly ready to collapse. The clubhouse, once brimming with people, now appears desolate most of the time.

Long story short, Carleton Glen is a long lost relic; a look into a great past that is long gone. Usually you can find "charm" in a place with character. This is far beyond charm, and FAR beyond character. This is nearly derelict. I'm not sure the reason, but someone has given up on this place. Don't do like me; don't waste your money/day here.

The fairways and greens exceed the quality of the other area courses. I keep playing there more and more. It's usually a dollar or two more than the lessor courses in the area but i'm tired of those cheap courses.
Carleton Glen is superior. It's got a lot of risk and reward opportunities, long par 4's etc.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

This course can be difficult. Course can be dry, and greens hard to hold. Tee boxes could use a little help and sand traps are like no other. If you shoot your best round here you have to feel very good. Most rounds can be played in 4 hours or less. 230 yard par 3 is the longest I have played. Course has some interesting doglegs on the back 9.

I love this course. No course is perfect but after playing most around this is the most interesting in the SE Michigan area. The trees are big and beautiful and the greens smooth and fast.

This is by far the best course in the area. Greens are quick and tough. Not boring and flat like most of the area courses. I wish that my league would move here.
