Crystal Lake Golf Club was a great experience. It starts with the gentleman in the clubhouse serving drinks at the "Stapleton Pub" The course itself is forgiving yet difficult. They reel you in with an easy couple of holes to start, then difficult the remainder. The greens are some of the nicest I've played on and it's very well maintained. I'd suggest everyone golf here because it is a can't miss destination if you find yourself in the beautiful Benzie county.

The Course is in great shape and getting better and better in the last few years. Fairly priced, great service and a fun layout. The greens are very nice and fast but some are amongst the most challenging you will find in Northern Michigan. With that being said it not a trick course and you will earn your birdies by playing it more than once because they can be tricky. The folks that operate the course are accommodating and there for you when needed. It’s not stuffy or real fancy but it gives you everything and more to have fun with your group. A definite play when you are in the area.

Greens great condition, challenging, but fair.
Layout is nice. Some holes with nice Lake view, back nine a bit more challenging with tree lined holes.
    Staff was very friendly.
We had good burgers/barbecue pork for dinner.
Rest of 2018 $99 for foursome is a great deal for unpretentious, but challenging golf.

Some playable areas had more crabgrass than bentgrass, but doesn’t affect play.

I read Shawn's review - Wow what a load. Yes there is a ladies tee on #8 - it's identified by the red markers, Fairways are some of the nicest in the ares, and I've played a lot of courses here. The greens are some of the most demanding in northern Mi, perfectly maintained, smooth and fast. The personnel go out of their way to welcome you. Try it yourself and see who's right.

$45 for a round is robbery for this course. Haven't seen a course in this bad of shape in 20 years. #4 fairway is so bad that the turf is cracked so much that your ball could drop into and actually end up under the turf! They didn't even have it roped off to keep carts off of it. Tee boxes are divot ridden. No tee box for ladies on #8. Roughs are just dead grass and sand. Can't honestly say anything about the back nine because my foursome quit after the front. Didn't feel like punishing ourselves any longer. Guy working counter even told us to grab a score card before we started because it was too hot out for him (it was 83 degrees) to put them on the carts. With all the beautiful courses in the area, Crytal Lake should be embarrassed. One course we will never go to again!

Really good track. Fun place to play plus nice people and good views of Crystal Lake. First played here in 1984. Course has improved and is well kept.
